I only knew William for a short while but I have admired his work for a long time. There is something magical about the ocean and William captured that magic through great attention and care to detail in his craft. He saw beauty in even the smallest things, such as names and the bigger stories they tell.
As a marine biologist, I have been grateful that he has made unique fishes visible to the broader public through his craft.
His memory will live on in those who knew him and in his works which grace many of our homes.
